Where are you now?
MarieNairn asks: Where are you living now? Are you abroad and if so where? Why does Nairn matter to you and is important to you? What is so special about the town?
It would be great to hear from all those now living away from Nairn and those who come back for “The Games” or “Hogmanay”.
What are your memories? What can we do to improve your town?
Nairn will always be important to me and thanks to the internet I can keep up with local news. I now live in New Zealand (married a Kiwi) on a farm south of Auckland, called Tomnarroch after my grandads farm at Glenferness.
I am a Registered Nurse still working full time.
Nairn will always be home to me and maybe next year I can make it home.
Some of the local news saddens me but that is “progress”.
My memories are the swings and the paddling pool, the “bushes” and valleys
at the links and walks up the river. Icecreams and hot oranges from Morgantis, butteries from Fletchers and Ashers, fish and chips from Berties chip shop, R.S. Mccolls vailla tablet and the wonderful education I received at The Academy under headmaster Mr Robertson.
Nairn will always be special to me and I hope that The Links, the beaches
and the riverside walks will remain unspoilt. There are not many places in the world where children and adults have a variety of outdoor places to
go and enjoy at no cost.
Regards from NZ.
